The Practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology deals with the medical disorders of the female reproductive system that relates to issues, problems, concerns and complication related to per-pregnancy, during and post pregnancy management. Vagina, uterus, ovaries & breasts are the Organs coming under this medical field. Since spheres of the two overlap each other most modern Gynecologists are also Obstetricians. Relative treatments generally comprise of routine primary and preventive health care, menopause, pregnancy, delivery. This is followed by medical or surgical management. Depending upon the nature of the problem, Gynecologists would either choose to employ medical or surgical procedure or combination of both.

Treatment for Open Hysterectomy and Laparoscopic Hysterectomy in India

Hysterectomy is a surgical procedure where uterus is removed through incision in the area of lower abdomen. The baby would grow during pregnancy in this area. The cervix and uterus are removed in total abdominal hysterectomy whereas just the uterus is removed in partial hysterectomy. In case of total abdominal hysterectomy one or both ovaries along with fallopian tubes are removed if need arises. In case of vaginal hysterectomy an incision in vagina is made.

Robotic or Laparoscopic surgical approaches are also performed where incisions made in abdomen for hysterectomy where long & thin instruments are passed through it. Abdominal hysterectomy is generally the preferred surgical procedure or if the surgeon would like to probe other pelvic organs or you have a large uterus.
